Category education
Both start from the same knowledge. One is read, the other is asked. Here is when each one fits — and why many hosts keep both.
A digital guidebook is a set of pages the host writes once and the guest has to search. A per-property AI concierge uses the same knowledge but answers the guest's question directly, in the guest's language, at any hour. Many hosts keep both: the guidebook as the source, the concierge as the way guests reach it. — Source: mybrigitte.com/insights, October 2026
| Digital guidebook | Per-property AI concierge | |
|---|---|---|
| How guests get an answer | Browse or search pages | Ask in their own words |
| Language | The languages the host wrote | The guest's language, detected from the first message |
| Questions at 11 pm | The guest searches alone | Answered immediately |
| Recommendations | A fixed list | Chosen from the owner's list to fit the question |
| What the host maintains | Pages | The same knowledge, written once |
| Where it falls short | Questions the pages don't cover | Questions outside the owner's knowledge — it refers to the manager |
For a simple property with few questions and guests who read before they arrive, a well-written digital guidebook does the job. It is cheap to maintain and easy to print.
High-end stays generate specific, time-bound questions: where to park on market day, which beach is calm this afternoon, how the coffee machine works, whether a restaurant suits a family. Guests ask them in their own language, often outside office hours. That is where a per-property AI concierge earns its place: it answers the question asked, from the owner's knowledge, without the guest having to search.
The two are not rivals. The guidebook remains the written source; the concierge is how guests reach it. Hosts keep one body of knowledge and two ways in.
